The 6th International Academic Exchange Conference on Science and Technology Innovation (IAECST 2024) wrapped up with great splendor in Guangzhou from December 6 to 8. The conference, capitalizing on a hybrid format blending both offline and online participation, pooled over 500 experts and scholars from prestigious universities and research institutions globally. Additionally, more than 50,000 viewers tuned in remotely via the live streaming available on the AiScholar media matrix platform to witness this monumental event.
During the opening ceremony, consecutive speeches were delivered by Xueling Zeng, Vice Chairman and Party Member of the Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, and Jizhong Zhu, Professor and Conference Chairman from South China University of Technology. Furthermore, Dan Sabin, Chairman of the IEEE PES Global Technology Committee, conveyed greetings and congratulations from abroad. The conference was co-hosted by the IEEE PES Smart Buildings, Loads & Customer Systems (SBLC) Satellite Committee-China, South China University of Technology, and the Guangdong AiScholar Institute of Academic Exchange. It was organized by the School of Electric Power Engineering of South China University of Technology and the AEIC Academic Exchange Information Center, with technical and service backing provided by AiScholar throughout the event.
Amid the conference, esteemed leaders and guests, including Yan Zhao, Secretary of the Party Committee, President, and Editor-in-Chief of China Science Daily, together with Guoxing Liu, Chairman of AiScholar, witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Fengjie Cen, President of AiScholar and Jie Yan, Director of the Online Media Center of China Science Daily. According to the agreement, both parties will engage in extensive collaboration in scientific communication, advocating for the scientist spirit and supporting scientific researchers. Their objectives encompass the establishment of academic exchange platforms, the facilitation of intellectual discourse, the elevation of public awareness regarding the outstanding achievements of young scientists, and the comprehensive stimulation of researchers’ enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity. This partnership will also foster the conversion and application of scientific research results. Together, they announced AiScholar’s entry into ScienceNet, officially launched the 2025 ScienceNet Top Ten Blog Posts Award, and co-organized the “Scientific Vision” research paper and scientific research visualization works solicitation and exhibition event.
Under the guidance of the Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, AiScholar, in collaboration with the Guangdong AiScholar Institute of Academic Exchange, jointly released theBlue Book on the Development of International Academic Conferences in China 2024. This Blue Book embodies AiScholar’s profound insights and accumulated achievements in industry development, propelling the steady advancement of academic exchange cooperation and scientific research service industries.
The conference, embracing the theme of “bringing together global wisdom to promote high-quality development,” boasted a main venue accompanied by six major sub-venues. It invited nearly 100 academic leaders and industry pioneers from domestic and international research fields, led by academicians and experts, to attend and deliver presentations. The presentation topics encompassed various frontier academic domains, including optoelectronic technology, artificial intelligence, communications, new energy sciences, electrical engineering, software engineering, and computer applications. Furthermore, the parallel specialized sessions featured diverse formats, including keynote speeches, live Q&A sessions, and open discussions for exchanges and discussions.
At the main venue, keynote speeches were delivered by Mohamad Sawan, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Engineering Institute of Canada; Yan Zhang, Academician of the Academia Europaea and Member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters; Mingfang Lv, Executive President of AiScholar and President of the Guangdong AiScholar Institute of Academic Exchange; Qinxi Dong, Foreign Academician of the Engineering Academy of Japan; Youmin Zhang, IEEE Fellow and CSME Fellow; Zibin Zheng, IEEE Fellow and IET Fellow; Kai Yang, IET Fellow and Changjiang Scholar; and Liuqing Yang, IEEE Fellow and Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Furthermore, seven sub-venues proceeded in parallel, encompassing the International Conference on Communications, Information Systems, and Software Engineering (CISSE), the International Conference on New Energy Systems and Electrical Engineering (NESEE), the International Conference on Information Technology and Computer Application (ITCA), the International Conference on Mechanical Engineering and Automation (MEA), the International Conference on Logistics Systems, Traffic, and Transportation (LSTT), the Management Science Informatization and Economic Innovation Development Conference (MSIEID), and the Industry Connections Activity on Standards for Digital and Green Technologies. Leading experts and scholars presented groundbreaking academic achievements in technological innovation, which not only expanded the horizons of researchers but also catalyzed vigorous academic discussions, garnering significant attention from global peers and diverse societal sectors, thereby facilitating advancements in international scientific and technological innovation.
The International Conference on Academic Exchange in Scientific and Technological Innovation has successfully hosted six consecutive editions, in a bid to bridge the gap in the scientific research community. It has emerged as a pivotal platform for converging elite intellect, enhancing academic exchanges, and fostering technological innovation, with its international academic exchange brand image continually ascending. In alignment with China’s “14th Five-Year Plan,” this edition revolves around the theme of “bringing together global wisdom to promote high-quality development,” offering robust support in areas such as talent aggregation, academic prosperity enhancement, and innovation drive.
According to sources, this conference was collaboratively organized by numerous domestic and international universities and research institutions, including the School of Automation Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology, the SHIEN-MING WU School of Intelligent Engineering at South China University of Technology, Guangzhou Association of Automation, Guangzhou Maritime University, the Integrated Smart Energy System Optimal Operation and Control, South China University of Technology (SCUT-ISESOOC), Hohai University, the University of Bologna in Italy, the University of Salamanca in Spain, the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and the University of Agder in Norway.
